Kosciusko County Treasurer Sue Ann Mitchell issued a press release today to remind taxpayers that the fall installment of the 2009 pay 2010 tax bills must be received or postmarked by Nov. 10 to avoid penalties.
Taxpayers have several options for tax payments including paying in the treasurer's office, paying at local banks, paying by mail, paying by credit card online or by telephone.
Taxes can be paid in person at the treasurer's office on the main floor of the courthouse.
A handicapped entrance under the west stairway entrance is available with an elevator available to the second floor.
Taxpayers are reminded to bring the "B" and "C" copies of their tax bills. Taxes can be paid by cash, check, money order or credit card in person in the treasurer's office. Tax "paid" with an "insufficient funds" check at any collection location is subject to a $25 fee plus additional penalties.
Payments may be made at area banks starting today if there are no delinquencies.
An original tax bill is required to pay at local banks.
Authorized area banks accepting tax payments as a service to the public include Campbell & Fetter, Crossroads Bank, Farmer's State Bank, Lake City Bank, Mutual Bank, PNC and Towerbank. Banks can not accept fall tax payments after Nov. 10.
Payments can be mailed. Be sure to include the statement, payment and self-addressed stamped envelope for the return of a receipt. Payments must be postmarked on or before Nov. 10 to be considered a timely payment. Payments should be mailed to:

There is a convenience fee of 2.95 percent. In addition, this is the first year that taxes can be paid by credit card in the treasurer's office. This also requires the payment of a 2.95 percent convenience fee.
Taxes may be viewed online at www.kcgov.com under "online services" GIS Maps. There is no cost to use the system.
The Beacon website will be displayed. Real estate and personal property can be searched by property owner name, property address, tax ID number or state tax ID number. Taxes are displayed at the bottom of the page after the correct property is identified.
The amounts listed in the '09 pay '10 column under the total due heading is the total amount that should be paid to avoid further penalties.
Payments made in the first 30 days after the Nov. 10th deadline will have a 5 percent penalty added. Payments made or postmarked after Dec. 10 will have an additional 5 percent penalty added. If there are prior delinquencies a penalty of 10 percent will apply Nov. 11.
