County and federal elected officials responded to Tuesday’s election. Aaron Rovenstine was elected sheriff and will replace Rocky Goshert. Rovenstine thanked the voters and the sheriff’s department for their support as well as the leadership of Goshert. Rovenstine has served with KCSD for 24 years and been in law enforcement for 30 years. He said he would like to continue to work on eliminating the alcohol and drug abuse problem in the county. “I look forward to serving the community in these challenging times with challenging budgets,” Rovenstine said. Bob Conley was re-elected as southern district county commissioner seat. “The key is to serve and I take that seriously. I thank God and the voters who came out to vote in blustery conditions,” Conley said. Jon Garber was re-elected to the district four county council seat. “I thank my supporters and hope to continue to serve my district, and feel I have a good working relationship with the county council and commissioners, and I’m proud of the services the county provides,” Garber said. Curt Nisly was elected District 22 state representative. Nisly replaces Rebecca Kubacki, who he beat in the May primary. Nisly thanked his wife, Mary, and his four children; Pam Galloway, campaign chair; John Elliott, campaign treasurer; and the voters. “I’m humbled that the people of the 22nd district have chosen me to represent them in the statehouse,” Nisly said. “I want to be a representative of the people and listen to the people, and respect the district and be their voice at the statehouse.” Nisly said with Warsaw being the orthopedic capital of the world, he would like to support the Orthopedic Advanced Manufacturing Training Center that he said is a model for the state. The OAMTC helps train those in the orthopedic industry. Nisly thanked his opponent, Democrat David Kolbe, and said Kolbe called him Tuesday night to congratulate him. Dave Wolkins, who was unopposed, was re-elected as State Rep. District 18. “I’m excited and I’m pleased that I’ve been representing my district well and that we will have a unified voice in Kosciusko County,” Wolkins said. Marlin Stutzman was re-elected to the third district congressional seat, and Jackie Walorski was re-elected to the second district congressional seat. Stutzman said it is humbling and he is grateful to be re-elected. He said he hopes the Republican Senate can repeal the medical device tax. Walorski said she is grateful to be re-elected. “I want to thank the supporters and volunteers for standing with me, knocking on doors and going to all the parades,” Walorski said. “I’m eager to get back and I’m grateful it turned out the way it did.” David Cates, who was unopposed, was elected as Superior Court 1 judge, Torrey Bauer was elected as Superior Court 2 judge, and Joe Sutton was re-elected as Superior Court 3 judge. Dan Hampton was re-elected as prosecuting attorney, Michelle Puckett was elected county auditor, Joetta Mitchell was elected as recorder, and Susan Engelberth was elected county assessor.
