Kosciusko County Council's first meeting of 2009 was a brief one.
The council approved a transfer of $2,093.26 for the prosecuting attorney's office from part-time prosecutor to deputy prosecutor.
Prosecuting Attorney R. Steven Hearn explained that Doug Fahl, a deputy prosecutor, was deployed to Iraq last year and the need arose for somebody to fill his position while he was fulfilling his military obligation.Hearn said there was an overlap of two weeks where both Fahl and his fill-in were both on the payroll, necessitating the transfer, though Hearn noted that the county saved on a part-time prosecutor position for 10 months.
The board also approved appropriations for the county's convention, recreation and visitor commission as well as for KCODE and infraction deferral.
Bradican Realty Partnership asked for and received status as an economic revitalization area, which will allow for a tax abatement.
The council also approved all year-end transfers and signed an amended dog tax ordinance that was approved at the council's last meeting.
