County Commissioners Approve $143k Dump Truck Bid

Posted
Due to Tuesday’s election, the Kosciusko County Commissioners met a day early to do business.

At today’s meeting, which took less than 10 minutes, the county awarded a dump truck bid to Hills Truck Sales out of South Bend.

Hills came in as the low bidder with a $143,893 offer that included the trade of a 1990 Ford dump truck.

The county received three bids.

Hills beat out Selking International and Idealease from Fort Wayne by more than $10,000.

The truck is a new 2012 Freightliner 114 SD cab chasis with equipment by W.A. Jones.

The commissioners also approved several contracts.

Kosciusko Medical Group had its contract with the county renewed for $500 a month.

By law, the county is required to have a doctor look at department protocol for 911.

CenturyLink renewed its contract with the county at last year’s rate of $2,192 each month and a one-time fee of $4,174.

The county also reached a two-year agreement with Cardinal Services.

The county and Cardinal Services have combined to offer a clinic for their employees.

The contact is for two-years with an opt-out after the first year.

County Administrator Ron Robinson said by coming to the agreement and increasing the pool of people to more than 1,000, the county was looking to save money.

The building, owned by the county, was remodeled and will be staffed with a nurse and nurse practitioners.

In terms of the election, two county commissioners are up for re-election but are currently running unopposed.

Brad Jackson, commissioner of the northern district of the county, and Ron Truex, middle district commissioner, are both running unopposed in the Republican primary.

No Democrats have filed for either seat.
