The 5th Annual Day at the Lake for St. Jude Children’s Hospital is set for Sept. 9. This year country stars Phil Vassar and Billy Currington will grace the stage at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds. Currington holds the attendance record at the Kentucky State Fair. Gates for the blowout event open at 11 a.m. Vassar hits the stage at 6:40 p.m. while Currington comes on at 8:15 p.m. Both artists will perform full shows. Before the day of the show, general admission grandstand tickets are just $15. Reserved Track tickets are $25 and general admission pit is $35. Day of show tickets are $20 for general admission grandstand, $30 for reserved track and $40 for general admission pit. Tickets are available at the fairgrounds as well as at www.willie1035.com Before the shows get started, there is plenty to do all day for all ages. Brandt’s Harley Davidson is sponsoring a 100 Mile Motorcycle Ride for Research. Registration fees are $30 for drivers and $20 for riders, and both fees include a ticket to the show and a hog roast. There will also be a cornhole tournament at 4 p.m. Those interested can sign up the day of the tournament. A beer tent with beer provided by Nelson Beverage opens at 3 p.m. There will also be food vendors on site all day. ML Motorsports will also be on hand that day. The grandstand opens at 5 p.m. and Fort Wayne group Allan and Ashcraft take the stage at 6 p.m. Allan and Ashcraft is gaining in popularity after they performed at the CMA Music Festival this year. What makes the Day at the Lake so unique is that all money raised from the events go to St. Jude. Entertainment Director Mike Loher said that they’ve already exceeded last year’s total donation in pre-sales for this year. But Loher also challenged the community. “If we sell this show out, more than $100,000 will go to St. Jude,” said Loher. Today, a 5K run will be held at the fairgrounds. Also upcoming is a Fall Tractor Pull Sept. 15. More information can be found at kcfair.org Loher also announced that starting in the last weekend in September and every Friday and Saturday in October Soul Takers Acres will take place at the fairgrounds.
