On Tuesday, the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office, in conjuction with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, completed a reported death of an infant, Emily R. Smith, 13 months old, at Kosciusko Community Hospital. Smith was found unresponsive in by her mother’s fiancee in their residence, who began CPR and called 911, according to a press release from the KCSD. Syracuse Fire Department Ambulance personnel arrived on scene and continued CPR and paramedics transported the infant to KCH where she was pronounced dead. An investigation into the death has been completed by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office and by Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department detectives. Following the autopsy, both agencies have concluded the infant died of natural causes. Syracuse Police Department assisted on scene.
