SYRACUSE – Officers arrested a 44-year-old Elkhart woman Thursday and charged her with dealing a Schedule III controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, a Class A felony.
Syracuse Police Department officers arrested Carol Ann Garcia Cruz after making an undercover purchase of numerous prescription pills from her in the parking lot of a Syracuse business located across the street from a preschool.
After making the purchase, officers stopped Cruz and took her into custody without incident. She is being held at the Kosciusko County Jail on the felony charges with bond set at $20,000.
The arrest is the result of several undercover operations in Syracuse in recent weeks. Syracuse police were assisted by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office in the investigation.
