Conservation Officers Seek Those Responsible Party for Contamination, Fish Kill

Posted
SIDNEY – Indiana Conservation Officers and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) are seeking help in finding the responsible party for a fish kill in a small creek and private pond in the vicinity of Ind.13 and CR 1250S.
On Saturday at 5 p.m. Indiana Conservation Officer Keith Dinn and IDEM representative Greg Carter responded to a complaint from a private land owner who observed dead fish in his pond. Investigators determined that 433 fish had been killed and the contaminant which caused the kill was animal waste.
Investigators believe an unlawful field application or more likely an unlawful dump from a manure honey wagon took place in the immediate area upstream from the fish kill. Investigating Officer Keith Dinn believes the violation may have occurred within just a day or two prior to the observed fish kill.
Indiana Conservation Officers would like the public's help in solving this environmental contamination and fish kill. If anyone has any information that may be helpful to bring the responsible party to justice, you are urged to call 1-800-TIP-IDNR, or 1-812-837-9256. You may remain anonymous.
