State Rep. Rebecca Kubacki announced Congressman Mike Pence will be the recipient of the second annual Spine Award.

Pence, who is running for Indiana’s governor, will receive the award during a dinner Aug. 19 at 6 p.m. at 2517 Restaurant, Warsaw.

To make reservations, call 574-457-4458. Tickets are $60 per person. Seating is limited.

Dr. Dane Miller and Jean Northenor are serving as honorary chairmen. Monica Boyer and Jason McSherry will serve as co-chairs.

Committee members are Sylvia Aguirre, Jean Gilbert, Allison McSherry, Sue Ann Mitchell and Cathy Teghtmeyer.

The award was presented last year to Governor Mitch Daniels. It is given to an individual who stands up for principles and doing what is right for Indiana.

Last year, Pence was named one of the top 25 hardest-working representatives by The Hill newspaper.

He also repeatedly received the Taxpayers’ Friend Award from the National Taxpayers’ Union for his commitment to advocating for responsible tax and spending policies.

He is a supporter of the military, and has visited Hoosier soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan every year since hostilities started in the Middle East.

The dinner will be catered under the new management of Champagne Jam, owned and operated by Jennifer Garr and Melanie Wilhite.

The women have 49 years of experience in corporate and event planning and are looking to bring elegance, customer service and a quality dining experience to 2517.

Both women are certified meeting professionals and members of the Convention Industry Council and Meeting Professionals International.

“I am thrilled to be working with Jennifer and Melanie and admire their entrepreneurial spirit,” Kubacki said.
