Community Theatre To Hold Auditions for "M*A*S*H"

Posted
The Center Street Community Theatre announced plans today for a fall production of “M*A*S*H” by Tim Kelly.
Performances are scheduled for Oct. 2-3 and 9-10 at the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts. The show will be directed by Gerald Cox, according to a press release from CSCT.
Auditions will be July 27 and 28, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., in the basement fellowship hall of the Warsaw First United Methodist Church. Callbacks will be July 30 at the same time and location.
The cast of “M*A*S*H” will include approximately 30 adults of varying ages  (15 men, 15 women), with some members playing more than one role. The audition format will be “cold reading,” in which participants read directly from the script, rather than preparing monologues.  Theatrical resumes are welcome, or background forms will be available.
Those interested in reading the script before auditions may visit the Warsaw Community Public Library. Scripts will be available to read Monday through July 24, but may not be checked out.
“Many of us are familiar with Hawkeye, Radar and Hotlips,” Jennifer Shepherd, member of the theatre's leadership team, is quoted as saying in the press release. “Members of the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital care for the injured during the Korean War and use humor to escape from the horror and depression of the situation. The stage play is similar to the hit television show and serves as a somber reminder that we continue to have men and women fighting for our freedoms.”
Center Street Community Theatre T-shirts also will be available for $10. Sizes beyond XL will be an additional $2 or $3.  Cash only.
The Center Street Community Theatre is the most recent addition to the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts’ initiatives. The community theatre’s past productions include “You Can’t Take It With You” and “Almost Maine.” Plans are underway for a spring show.
