Community Gathers For National Day Of Prayer In Warsaw

Posted
National Day of Prayer was an opportunity for local people to take time to reflect and pray for the community and nation Thursday.
The local observance was at Center Lake Pavilion, and was attended by approximately 200 people.
This year’s theme was “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God.”
Mike Grill, dean of the behavioral science department and professor of psychology at Grace College, was the keynote speaker.
“Prayer causes things to happen that would not happen if you did not pray,” Grill said.
He said there are things God would be willing to give us that don’t happen if we don’t ask.
He said when we are praying to God we are praying to a breathing being.
“Our prayers should not look like multiple choice questions, and when we do pray it doesn’t obligate God to answer,” Grill said.
He said we should not come to God in a demanding kind of way.
He also said it is important to have passion in prayer.
Seven community leaders prayed for specific areas of the community. Erik Ohman, Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church, prayed for military and government; Darla France, LifeTouch Ministries executive director, prayed for family; Troy Akers, Warsaw Community High School principal, prayed for the schools; Keith Reinholt, Reinholt’s Town Square Furniture, prayed for businesses; Roger Grossman, WRSW, prayed for the media; Debbie Lowe, wife of pastor John Lowe, New Life Christian Church and World Outreach, prayed for churches and missions; and Ken Locke, Salvation Army community ministries director, prayed for local charities.
Robin Howard, nationally known pianist, accompanied the trio of Angie Leopold, Arturo Osorio and Erin Richards.
