Speed limits along roads near the Warsaw Municipal Airport were approved by the Kosciusko County Commissioners this morning.
Cessna Road from CR 200N to Bell Drive; Bell Drive from Rainbow Drive to Cessna Road; Rainbow Drive from CR 250W to Bell Drive; and Boeing Road from CR 200N to CR 250N were all set at 35 miles per hour.
They have previously not had any speed limit posted.
The recommendation came from County Highway Superintendent Scott Tilden.
Tilden was thanked by the commissioners for his crews’ work in the aftermath of a snowstorm last week.
While national stories concerning the rising cost of salt for highway departments have been prevalent, Tilden said that since Kosciusko County got into a co-op through the state, salt costs are down $4 a ton from last year.
The county purchases, on average, around 1,200 tons a year.
The commissioners approved a request by county health director Bob Weaver to allow K21 Foundation to extend its lease with the Health Services Pavilion for another five years.
Emergency Management Director Ed Rock advised residents that it’s easier for emergency personnel to help in emergencies when house numbers are clearly marked and can be seen from the road.
Rock also said that sand and sandbags can be picked up at the North Webster Community Center as well as outside the fence at the Kosciusko County Highway Department.
Rock also said that his department received an emergency management performance grant of $3,623.18.
An agreement between Warsaw and Kosciusko County was approved that allows for the Warsaw Police Department to have its parking meter lady patrol county-owned parking lots.
Kosciusko County received a $29,384.88 grant from the Indiana Department of Transportation for signage and pavement markings at railroad crossings.
