County Commissioners did go over business other than hearing from disgruntled dispatchers and first responders at their Tuesday morning meeting.
County Assessor Laurie Renier came before the board to get their decision on whether the Property Tax Assessment Board Of Appeals would be a three or five-member board. The commissioners voted unanimously to make it a five-member board.
Renier said the board would benefit with more experience on it.
Bob Murphy addressed the commissioners on behalf of the Enchanted Hill improvement project.
Murphy asked the commissioners to apply for a one-time grant. According to Murphy, there is $300 million available for the state in disaster relief funds that were provided after flooding in 2008.
Murphy said he has sought an engineering firm to come in Dec. 28. The firm has agreed to do preliminary studies at no cost to the county.
Murphy said the county would find out by June whether they qualified for the no-match grant.
The commissioners agreed to apply on behalf of Enchanted Hills.
County Auditor Marsha McSherry had the commissioners sign the 2010 contract for county attorney Mike Miner.
Miner's rate will remain the same as it was in 2009.
The commissioners also signed two inter-local agreements and approved for Linda Stookey to remain on the North Webster Community Library board.
At the end of the meeting, commissioner Ron Truex gave an update on the county-wide sewer district efforts.
Truex said he recently met again with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and things are moving along at the "typical snail's pace" when it comes to government entities.
