NORTH WEBSTER - A boat crash on Lake Webster Saturday afternoon resulted in the death of Jeffery Melvin.
According to a press release from Indiana Conservation Officers, Melvin, 53, Columbia City, was operating a personal watercraft on Lake Webster when he made an immediate and abrupt right turn into the path of another personal watercraft. A friend of Melvin was operating the other watercraft and attempted to turn to avoid a collision. When the two PWCs collided the second PWC ramped over the boat that Melvin was riding and struck him in the right side of his torso.
Melvin was transported to Samaritan Hospital in Fort Wayne. He died there due to his injuries on Monday night.
