Jack McCoy, 23, of Columbia City, suffered spinal injuries in an early-morning accident near Pierceton. McCoy was airlifted to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, where he was listed in critical condition late this morning. According to an Indiana State Police report, alcohol was a factor in the 3:45 a.m. accident on Ind. 13, north of CR 600S. McCoy was southbound on Ind. 13 when he apparently lost control of his vehicle as he negotiated a gradual curve on Ind. 13.The pickup left the roadway and struck a tree head-on. After the initial impact, McCoy's vehicle rotated and struck a second tree. The accident remains under investigation and information will be forwarded to the Kosciusko County Prosecutor's Office for review of possible charges against McCoy. Photo by Gary Nieter, Times-Union
