A Columbia City man has been arrested after allegedly fondling a three-year-old Claypool girl. Zachery Robert Roderick Walsh, 20, was at a Claypool residence Monday evening when Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded at approximately 11:30 p.m. in regards to a possible molestation incident. Officers met with the mother of a three-year-old girl who explained that a family friend of hers had visited along with a brother, who the mother identified as Walsh. The mother further explained that both women went to Warsaw on an errand and left Walsh at the residence to watch the three-year-old and her four-year-old sister while they were gone. When the mother returned, she discovered the three-year-old had apparently been inappropriately touched by Walsh. Officers separately interviewed the child, who described the incident that had occurred in a bedroom without her four-year-old sister present. Deputies transported Walsh to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department where he was interviewed about the incident and allegedly confessed to inappropriately touching the girl. Walsh was arrested and preliminarily charged with child molesting, fondling, or touching a child under the age of 14. He is currently being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
