Clunette Family Homeless After Tuesday Fire

Posted
CLUNETTE - A Tuesday morning fire has left a Clunette family temporarily homeless.

According to Atwood Fire Chief Mike Harmon, a call came in at 11 a.m. regarding a house fire just south of Clunette at 3927 CR 550N.

Harmon said that it appears that a child playing with a lighter set a couch on fire, which then caught a wall on fire. All the occupants of the house, a mother, Jennifer Harvey, and two children, escaped unharmed.

The amount of damage has rendered the home unlivable for now. There is no dollar amount estimated yet. The family is being assisted by the Kosciusko County Red Cross.

The call was handled as a dual response, with Atwood and Leesburg/Plain Township both responding. The Multi-Township EMS was also involved. Units were on the scene for two hours, and no injuries to fire personnel were reported.
