Winona Literary Club Met
WINONA LAKE – The Winona Literary Club met Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Robin Hood Community Center in Winona Lake. Twenty-three members and two guests were present.
For the final regular meeting of the season, Tom Miller was the featured speaker, presenting his message “Drawn to the Son.” After sharing personal reflections on family, faith and life in Winona Lake, Miller used the sunflower as an illustration of how people are drawn to the Son of God, delivering a clear and thoughtful gospel message enhanced by visual props. He concluded the program with his wife, Donna, as the two sang “This Is My Father’s World” in a cappella harmony.
A brief business meeting followed, including the reading of the previous meeting’s minutes and the treasurer’s report. Refreshments served by the hostesses included homemade Yum Yum cake, assorted nuts, tea, coffee and lemonade. Tables were decorated with white tablecloths and yellow placemats, yellow tulips, fresh sprigs of purple lilacs, and homemade quilted coverings on the serving table and counter.
The club’s spring luncheon will be May 13 at noon. Stacey Bollman, of Warsaw, a violinist and music teacher, will do a musical presentation. Hostesses for the luncheon will be Mary Jane Schmitt, Karolyn Barrus and Pat Redpath. Roy Navarro and his staff of Foodology in Columbia City will cater and serve the meal. The cost is $15 per person, and reservations are required in advance. Ladies may call or text Marcia Lee at 574-527-7687 by May 9 to RSVP.
