Claypool Residents Urged To Complain About Phone Service

Posted

CLAYPOOL - Everyone in the 566 exchange is being encouraged to complain about service to the telephone company.

The Claypool Town Council is trying to figure out what to do about poor service and hopes that something will be done if enough complaints are lodged.

Claypool clerk-treasurer Shelly Thomas said that a variety of problems are occurring with telephone service in town, including having no dial tones when attempting to dial out; having telephones ring and no one being on the line; hearing telephone conversations taking place in the background of calls between other parties; and, in one case, a 911 operator being unable to hear a caller despite the caller hearing the operator.

"We want everyone in the 566 exchange to call GTE," Thomas said.

In other business, the council is continuing discussions about getting a four-way stop at the intersection of Clay and Section streets.

The next meeting is at 7 p.m. Oct. 21 in the fire station.
