Claypool Couple Celebrates Anniversary on Valentine's Day

Donald and Frances Shively, Claypool, are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary today. Donald and the former Frances Neff were married Feb. 14, 1944, in San Louis Obispo, Calif. Frances traveled by train to California to marry Don while he was on leave from military service. She stayed there for six weeks but later returned to Claypool where she worked for Claypool Elevator. In 1988 she retired from working in the library at the Claypool school. In June 1944 Don was sent overseas during World War II. He returned home in February 1946. He delivered oil for Standard Oil, and retired in August 1975. The couple have three sons: Dave (and spouse Sherry), John (and spouse Peggy) and Tom (and spouse Gail), all of Claypool. They also have eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The family will celebrate Sunday with a family dinner.
