Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety approved Friday the city seeking quotes for the creation of Krebs Trailhead Park.
The board, at its Oct. 5 meeting, approved grant funding from the Kosciusko County Convention Recreation and Visitor Commission and OrthoWorx for the park.
The park will be at the intersection of East Market and McKinley streets. It will connect expanding  recreational assets such as the greenway for bicyclists and pedestrians, according to Tim Dombrosky, assistant city planner. It will connect Winona’s Heritage Trail and Warsaw’s Chinworth Trail.
The city will seek at least three quotes from businesses in the line of trailhead park construction work, Dombrosky said.
All of the quotes will be opened publicly and read aloud at a future Board of Works meeting. Also during the meeting, the board approved a request from Warsaw Fire Chief Mike Brubaker for the department to purchase 50 airpaks and 100 bottles that store the air that go with the airpaks.
The cost of the airpaks including the air bottles is $239,740 from T.J. Nowak Supply Company.
Funds are available for the purchase from unspent funds in the department’s health insurance of $82,600 and $157,400 from salaries and wages.
The funds will need to be reviewed during Monday night’s city council meeting to be transferred to the other capital outlays appropriation.
The airpaks will replace the present airpaks that need to be replaced by 2015, Brubaker said.
The board approved a contract between the city and Pro-Form Pipe Lining for $149,965 for storm sewer repair at Center Lake. The funds for the project will come from the Community Capital Development repairs and maintenance fund.
The board approved a contract between the city and Harold Keiser for Santa and Mrs. Claus for Light Up The Night for $200. The event is at Central Park Dec. 7 from 7 to 9 p.m.

The board also approved a $16,760 contract for Warsaw Police Department to purchase eight heaters for the police garage from Quine Freeman Heating & Air Conditioning.
The board opened supply bids for 2013 for limestone, ready mix concrete, flowable backfill, bituminous material, concrete curbing and concrete flatwork.
The bids will be taken under advisement and approved at the Nov. 16 board meeting.
