The Warsaw City Council is again looking at measures to reduce the deer herd in Kosciusko County.
The council will review a resolution and proposed nuisance zones at its meeting tonight for this year's deer reduction effort.
The resolution if approved will allow trained archers to again hunt in declared nuisance zones within the city limits.
The meeting is 7 p.m. at city hall.
At it's May 4 meeting, the city council approved a motion to have city attorney Mike Valentine draft a resolution for this year's deer reduction efforts.
The council previously passed a resolution and ordinance at its meeting Nov. 6 to allow hunters to hunt in declared nuisance zones for the first time.
There were 20 hunters who hunted in declared nuisance zones Dec. 18 through Jan. 8.
Eighteen deer were harvested during the hunt.
The proposed nuisance zones for this year's hunt are the same as last year.
They include the entire area around Spring Hill, Oakwood Cemetery, Kosciusko Community Hospital and U.S. 30.
The Warsaw Deer Task Force met May 9 and discussed last year's reduction efforts.
Those who attended the meeting included Police Chief Steve Foster, Deer Task Force Chair Jeff Grose, Mayor Ernie Wiggins, and task force members Matt Dick, Dan Smith, Jon Cook and Joe Thallemer.
All the DTF members supported a reduction effort this year and voted in favor of not having any new nuisance or reduction zones for the hunt this year.
