City and airport officials are remembering former Warsaw Municipal Airport Manager David Beall today. Beall died Saturday after a long battle with cancer. Beall was appointed by former Warsaw Mayor Ernie Wiggins Jan. 3, 2000, to serve as the airport manager. Wiggins said Beall will be missed. “David had a passion for the airport and the city, and was a dedicated employee, and we are saddened to hear of his passing that will be a loss to the city,” Wiggins said. Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer said he learned of Beall’s death when he received a phone call from Beall’s wife, Linda, Saturday morning. “David ran the airport well, and through discussion of the expansion of the powerlines at the airport, and provided a good service to the community,” Thallemer said. It was announced last week that Nicholas King replaced Beall as airport manager and begins his duties today. Jay Rigdon, Warsaw Aviation Board of Commissioners president, said Beall worked 100 percent for the cause of the airport. “The city obtaining the Airport Of the Year award from the Indiana Aviation Association could not have been done without Beall,” Rigdon said. Rigdon said Beall will be greatly missed. King said he looks forward to following in Beall’s footsteps and continue the airport’s history that Beall is a part of. Thallemer said King’s transition will be easier because Beall kept the airport running well and assisted with the capital improvements project. Charlie Smith, city council representative to Warsaw Board of Aviation Commissioners, said Beall managed the airport well and said the airport is an important asset to the community.
