A Warsaw man walked to the Warsaw Police Department and collapsed after being stabbed late Friday night.

Luis German, 30, of Detroit Street, Warsaw, was found late Friday night pounding on the west door of the police station on High Street. The officer who responded to the emergency reportedly found German leaning against the door with blood on his T-shirt.

German was taken by ambulance to Kosciusko Community Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition. According to police, German was stabbed once in the left rib area, once in the groin and once in the left buttocks.

German reportedly told police he was stabbed by three men. Before being taken to the hospital he reportedly tried to lead police officers toward where he said he was stabbed.

Police followed his blood trail along a guardrail behind the police station and across High Street. The trail continued along the sidewalk, across the parking lot of the First Presbyterian Church and onto Jefferson Street. Police reported the trail went across the railroad tracks to a dumpster in the backyard of 303 E. Indiana St. Police reportedly found a kitchen knife in the dumpster. They have not released whether the knife found is the suspected weapon.

According to a police interpreter's report, German said he was walking near some apartments when several men jumped him and held him while he was stabbed. German reportedly said later he had been drinking with some men whom he named as suspects.

Warsaw police are continuing the investigation.
