City OKs Mobile App For Fire, Police, MTEMS

Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety Friday approved a contract that will allow Warsaw police and fire departments and Multi Township EMS to have improved technological tools to respond to emergencies.
The board approved a $12,100 contract with MCT Freedom and MTEMS for the purchase of 50 licenses to allow Warsaw fire, police and Multi Township EMS to have the capabilities to use an app to connect with Central Dispatch.
Mike Brubaker, Warsaw-Wayne Township fire chief, said the app will provide the departments with the capability to connect with dispatch to obtain information such as a map of addresses where emergencies have been reported and a call history of the reported emergencies.
There will be 50 licenses issued for the mobile apps including Warsaw-Wayne Township Fire Territory, 11 licenses; MTEMS, 21 licenses and Warsaw Police Department, 18 licenses.
 The board also:
• Approved the street department seeking a grant to pay for a new garbage truck.
The grant is available through Indiana Clean Diesel Coalition and will reduce the cost of a new garbage truck by 50 percent. The cost associated with the grant writing is $485 per hour not to exceed 40 hours.
• Approved a resolution authorizing the issuance of general obligation bonds and an ordinance  authorizing the appropriation of bond proceeds. The bond is not to exceed $1.2 million and is for the purchase of four pickup trucks, a plow truck, garbage truck, bobcat loader, skid loader, mowing equipment and police vehicles.
• Approved closing Indiana Street from south of Main Street to north of Fort Wayne Street, Fort Wayne Street from Buffalo Street to west of Detroit Street, and Main Street from the fire station to High Street for the annual Cubmobile races today from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Approved a deed of dedication for portions of Husky Trail, Nature View Drive, Shell Bark Lane and Pine Cone Lane in Harrison Ridge Subdivision.
• Approved an encroachment agreement for Freedom Oil at 425 Argonne Road. Greg Cobb, Freedom Oil owner, requested the agreement to allow a new canopy to be constructed over the existing gas pumps and to construct a new sign in the same place as the existing sign.
• Approved a $6,464.60 payment to A & Z Engineering for engineering services on the Husky Trail project.
• Approved a $36,385 contract with Warsaw Auto Plex for the street department to purchase a 2015 Dodge Ram pickup to replace a 1991 Chevrolet pickup.
• Approved an $8,505 contract with Pavement Solutions Inc. for pavement preservation using a mixture of asphalt emulsion, crushed aggregate, cement and water.
• Approved a corporate membership to the YMCA for city employees at a $350 annual fee per employee.
• Approved a $1,705.89 bi-weekly salary for Rogelio Navarro, Warsaw Police Department patrol officer; a patrol probationary officer with the person filling the position to be announced at $1,705.89 bi-weekly; and an $18.25 per hour salary for Mark Howenstein, a street department garage and central supply supervisor.
• Approved a $21,640 contract with Riggs Outdoor Power Equipment for four plows.
• Approved a $15,000 contract with Jones & Henry Engineering for site visits to the Center Street pump station.
