The Warsaw/Kosciusko County Chamber of Commerce's man and woman of the year will serve as co-grand marshals for this year's City of Lakes Festival parade Saturday.
Dr. Dane Miller, Winona Lake, and Suzanne Light, Warsaw, will lead the procession through the Warsaw downtown area to Central Park at 1 p.m.
The parade is one of many festival highlights with events beginning today through Sunday.
While most of the action is confined to Central Park, there are several off-site events, too.
In Central Park this evening at 5 p.m. is the watermelon feast sponsored by National City Bank.
The First Presbyterian Church sponsors Avalon, in the park at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday at 7 a.m. there will be a fly-in/drive-in at Warsaw Municipal Airport, with a pancake and sausage breakfast until 10:30 a.m.
At 8 a.m. the adult triathlon begins at Winona Lake Park, sponsored by the Optimist Club; the kids area opens along with crafters and vendors until 9 p.m.; at 9 a.m. the YMCA 3-on-3 basketball games begin along with the Firecracker Tournament at the CCAC.
The Lakeland Art Association has several creative events, beginning with a play dough competition in Central Park at 10 a.m. and a sand castle competition, with crews limited to five, on the Center Lake beach.
Sunday the LLA sponsors a community mural with painting beginning at noon.
The popular Cub Mobile Race down Indiana Street is at 10 a.m. Sunday with Penguin Point's big wheel race starting at 10:30 a.m. on Fort Wayne Street.
A brats and burgers lunch will be available at the airport.
The BMX race is at 1 p.m. in Hire Park.
Firemen will give a waterball demonstration on Fort Wayne street at 2 p.m.
Tours of the Biblical Gardens begin at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The Lake City Skiers will have shows on Hidden Lake, west of Ind. 15N, at 3 and 5:30 p.m.
Vendors and the kids' area will be open until 9 p.m. Saturday.
Nostalgia is the opening act for the Classic Rock Concert starting at 6 p.m. Peter Noone's Herman's Hermits takes the stage around 7 p.m.
On Sunday, New Life Christian Church hosts a sunrise service in Central Park Plaza at 9 a.m. Also at 9 a.m. the mountain bike race starts in Winona Lake and the Firecracker Tournament continues at the CCAC.
Crafters and vendors open their areas at 11 a.m. and will be open until 4 p.m.
The kids' area is open from noon until 6 p.m.
There will be a volleyball competition sponsored by the Bowen Center at 1 p.m. in Central Park.
The Guitar Woodies will play from 1 to 3 p.m. and the 5K run starts at 2 p.m. in Central Park.
An all-church singspiration closes the festival at 7 p.m.
