City Hears Gravel On Leedy Street Concerns

Posted
Warsaw City Council Tuesday night heard a concern from a resident about gravel and tar being dumped on Leedy Street in Hersher Addition.
Jan Knispel, Leedy Street resident, said she came home last Friday and noticed that gravel and tar had been dumped on Leedy Street, and she and other residents were not notified this would happen.
Jeff Beeler, street superintendent, said he had asked Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer if a surface treatment could be used on Leedy Street and said the city had extra gravel and tar.
The extra material saved the city $15,000, Beehler said.
Street department crews worked Monday on smoothing the surface with rollers.
Thallemer and Beeler apologized for residents not being notified of the pavement project.
“I really care about what I do and want to have the best roads in Indiana for other communities to look to,” Beeler said.
Thallemer said the issue has been brough to the surface and will be solved.
Knispel said she contacted Thallemer and Councilman Mike Klondaris about the issue, who came out to investigate.
“I understand money is tight, but it’s a bad job,” Knispel said. “I haven’t complained before to the city, but this was the straw that broke the camel’s back.”
She also expressed concern with a tornado siren needing to be installed so the neighborhood could hear it and drains that need to be put in.
