"Rich Past, Bright Future" is the theme for Warsaw's Sesquicentennial.
Plans are to celebrate the city's 150th anniversary over three weekends, beginning June 6 with a 6:30 p.m. Lake City Skiers show at Hidden Lake.
Sally Hogan is chairwoman of the steering committee, which also includes Carmen Lock, Cindy Dobbins, Michelle Bormet and Jennifer Whitaker. So far, 86 individuals are serving on several committees to make the celebration an event to remember. Folks interested in souvenir sales, the industry history displays and the car show may contact steering committee members.
Walking tours of the Oakwood Cemetery, historic buildings downtown and of gardens in Warsaw, Syracuse and Leesburg are being planned.
There will be window displays of Warsaw memborabilia throughout the downtown area. Anyone wanting to share their items may contact Bormet.
The sesquicentennial logo, planned to be reproduced on a plethora of souvenirs, was designed by Ed Roberts of Roberts Signs.
The Warsaw High School alumni committee has planned a reunion from 1 to 4 p.m. June 27 in the Warsaw Community High School gymnasium. They hope to have representatives of every graduating class.
