In other business, the council approved an ordinance to transfer $3,000 from the council's budget to council machine equipment, and transfer $6,000 from council improvements other than building to council machine equipment. The transfers will allow Comfort Control LLC to install a new roof on the city building.
The council also reviewed a letter from Ed Rock, Kosciusko County Emergency Management director, that said the county's Special Hazards Operations Team is no longer a team and will no longer respond to hazardous materials incidents and technical rescues.
Rock wrote in the letter the team has been struggling to keep the number of trained members necessary to conduct a safe and effective response.
