Warsaw City Council approved several tax abatement compliance review forms Monday night. The council approved continuing a 10-year tax abatement on real and personal property for Zimmer Production Inc. at 345 Main St.; a continuation of a 10-year tax abatement for Zimmer U.S. Inc. and continuations of 10-year tax abatements for Zimmer at 219 N. Buffalo St. and 1535 and 1777 W. Center St. Other tax abatement continuations approved were for Flexaust Company Inc. that have had tax abatements since 2006 and 2011. Other 10-year tax abatement continuations approved were for Symmetry Medical, Danco Anodizing, and Dalton Corporation. Other abatement continuations were for a six-year tax abatement for R & B Investors Partnership and a five-year continuation on a tax abatement for Martin’s Supermarkets. Warsaw City Planner Jeremy Skinner said the tax abatements have been a great addition to the city. “A lot of these companies have added employees, and as a community we should feel fortunate that they spent money on real and personal property and hired the employees they did,” Skinner said. Also prior to the city council meeting, the city heard a presentation on the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns medical trust. Ann Cottongim, IACT deputy director and chief financial officer, and Gary Henriott, Henriott Group, a consulting firm for IACT, presented information on the medical trust. The goal of the trust is to improve the well-being and quality of life of municipal employees. In other business, the council approved a resolution for a mutual aid interlocal agreement for fire services. The agreement is for Kosciusko County to partner with Elkhart, Fulton, Marshall, Pulaski, St. Joseph and Stark counties to provide mutual aid in instances of natural disasters.
