Warsaw City Council Monday approved tax abatements on real and personal property for Banner Medical to be located in the Warsaw Technology Park. West Hill Development LLC requested the city grant real property tax abatements on a new 44,3115-square-foot industrial building at 1295 Polk Drive within the city’s technology park. The proposed value of the new facility will be $4.3 million and will be occupied by Banner Medical Innovation Inc. Banner expects to hire 76 employees over the next five years. Banner Medical Innovations requested the city grant personal property tax abatement on new manufacturing and IT equipment that will be placed within the new manufacturing facility. Banner expects to spend over $4.1 million on new equipment. Mark Redding, Banner Medical president and CEO, said the business will be located in a new building on lot one of the tech park. Banner Medical sells medical grade material to orthopedic manufacturers. “We support the medical device industry with specialty raw material supply and raw material processing,” Redding said. “We are very proud to become a member of this community. The tech park was a fantastic idea.” The council held a public hearing on designating the Warsaw Technology Park as an economic revitalization area that is at the northwest corner of Silveus Crossing and U.S. 30. A resolution for a confirming designation of the park as an economic revitalization area was approved. In other business. the council approved transferring $47,000 from the aviation department’s repairs and maintenance into machinery and equipment. The transfer is needed for continued parts and machinery needed for equipment maintenance. The council approved an ordinance for daily maximum limits of arsenic at 0.08 mg and 0.50 mg for cyanide for the wastewater plant.
