Posted

The Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety Wednesday approved Leland Roberts Construction Co.'s request to withdraw their bid of $626,818 on the Walnut Creek sewer interceptor project.

Leland Roberts, Sulphur Springs, Ind., was the lowest of 11 bids from different contractors. Niblock Excavating Inc., Bristol, was the second lowest, with a bid of $762,686.90, a difference of 22 percent or approximately $136,000.

"I am recommending that the city award the contract to Niblock Excavating," board member Paul Siebenmorgen said Wednesday.

The board approved this recommendation and signed the notice of award to Niblock Excavating. Contracts will be sent to them this week and the construction company will have 15 days to sign.

The acceptance and approval of Niblock Excavating's bid is pending receipt of the performance and payment bonds required as part of the construction contract.

The Board of Public Works and Safety consists of: Mayor Ernie WIggins, Jerry Patterson and Paul Siebenmorgen.
