Six Warsaw homes and the Old Jail Museum will be decorated Saturday as part of the Kosciusko County Historical Society’s Christmas Home Tour.
The indoor home tour will begin at noon Saturday and go until 5 p.m.
The cost is $10 per person, and tickets can be purchased in advance at the Old Jail Museum, 121 N. Indiana St., Warsaw, or on the day of the event at any of the stops on the tour.
Jail museum hours are Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Proceeds from the home tours will go to the historical society.
Participants also will receive maps showing the locations of the houses with the tickets.
Each place will be decorated by those who live or work there. Some houses will feature items such as sparkling glassware, collections of miniature houses, or a life-size Santa who belts out Christmas tunes.
Besides The Lee and Mary Hartle home, 3360 N. CR 200W, Warsaw, other stops on the tour are: the Chuck and Lois Niemier home, 1600 S. Meadow Drive, Warsaw; the Mike and Kathee Reed home, 1907 W. Meadow Drive, Warsaw; the Larry and June Thomas home, 1052 N. CR 350W, Warsaw; the Jim and Sue Earl home, 4597 W. CR 200N, Warsaw; the Ellsworth and Shirley Everest home, 2044 W. CR 500N, Warsaw; and the Old Jail Museum.
Participants can go to any or all of the stops in any order they choose.
The home tours are patterned after the historical home tours that the Kosciusko County Historical Society has held from time to time.
Mary Hartle, historical society first vice president, said this is the first year for the home tour.
“I am a Christmas nut and love Christmas, and attended a home tour last year in Ligonier that gave me the idea to bring it here,” Hartle said.
She hopes people will get ideas how to decorate their homes, and a joy of Christmas.
Hartle said she will offer free food and beverages at her home during the tour, and will offer a bake sale to raise funds for the historical society.
