Chili Nights, Beer Tent Set For First Friday In November In Warsaw

Chili samples, a beer tent, children's activities and hay rides are some of the events being planned for First Friday "Chili Nights" in downtown Warsaw.
The event will be Nov. 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. in downtown Warsaw on Buffalo Street between Market and Main streets.
Warsaw and Winona Lake businesses and individuals are invited to make their chili that will be given out for samples that night to the community.
Businesses and individuals are needed to enter into the chili competition to set up booths and tents to compete for chili-making bragging rights.
Ron Harris, Rex's Rendezvous employee, and the First Friday committee with organizer Keith Reinholt are coordinating the First Friday event.
There will be judges and attendees who will decide who has the best chili. Awards will be presented including Judge's Choice and People's Choice.
For the People's Choice award, attendees will sample chili and there will be a penny vote.
Awards will include a $50 gift certificate to spend at downtown businesses, an apron with a logo of "Chili Nights" and a personalized cooking spatula.
People who attend "Chili Nights" will receive free samples of chili.
Other events in the works include hay rides in the downtown by Ed Boggs, Warsaw; a children's activities area with puppet shows, pony rides, face painting and story telling, and an appearance by Batman.
There will be a chili pepper-eating contest, free glowstick necklaces for children and live music at the County Annex Building on Lake Street.
There also is a hay maize being planned, hot cider and doughnuts, and free corn bread made by Morningstar Four Square Church, Warsaw.
There also will be discounts from downtown merchant businesses.
Rex's Rendezvous is planning a beer tent Nov. 5 from 5 to 10 p.m. outside the business.

The deadline to register to enter chili into the competition is Nov. 3 at 5 p.m.
