Children's Resale Event Benefits Local Families

Posted
PIERCETON - The First Baptist Church of Pierceton will host a children's resale Aug. 14 from 8 a.m. to noon.

Holly Borchelt, one of the organizers of the event, said the idea came from a church in Wakarusa that started doing the same thing about four years ago.

The resale works two-fold. Families looking to sell some items for extra cash can come to the church at 208 W. Market St., Pierceton, and sell their items.

Families looking to pick up items for an affordable price can also show up.

Borchelt said Aug. 14's event would be a great time for families on a budget to do back-to-school shopping.

Children's clothing for all seasons will be accepted for this resale along with toys, infant items (furniture, accessories, bedding, bouncy seats, bath tubs, strollers, etc.), books, videos, games, puzzles and shoes.

Any other items pertaining to children also will be accepted.

Maternity clothing for all seasons will be available at the resale. Pregnancy books, parenting books and exercise videos also will be available.

"What kind of sets us apart is that we're giving them 100 percent of what they sell," said Borchelt. "(The sellers) just pay a $5 fee for advertising and renting clothing racks."

Borchelt said her mom, Tonya Pletcher, and friend, Crystal Fishburn, have been instrumental in putting the event together.

The day of the event, members of the church will be on hand to help run it.
