The second annual “Shopping with Heroes” program, sponsored by the Warsaw Police Department and supported by Burger King and Meijer, will take place Thursday evening. Warsaw Police officers have volunteered to escort 12 pre-selected children from Warsaw Community Schools. From 5:30 to 6:45 pm, a dinner for all participating officers and children will be donated by the Burger King located at 2920 Frontage Road. Santa Claus will join in the fun at Burger King and photo opportunities will be available. Following the meal, the officers will accompany the children to Meijer for a holiday shopping trip. The children will be provided with a predetermined quantity of money to spend on necessities for themselves as well as Christmas presents for their families. The officers will guide the children through the aisles of Meijer and aid them in their gift selection.
