SYRACUSE - A 22-year-old Leesburg man was arrested Friday after fleeing Syracuse police and allegedly being involved in two separate accidents.
Jamie Edward Elijah, 22, of 208 W. Prairie St., Leesburg, was booked into Kosciusko County jail on charges of resisting and fleeing law enforcement, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, reckless driving and not having an operator's license. His bond was set at $5,000.
According to a Syracuse Police Department spokesman, a call to police first reported Elijah driving erratically on a motorcycle and passing vehicles on the wrong side of the road.
At 6:42 p.m., Elijah sideswiped a vehicle driven by Lois E. Stuckman, 56, Crystal Flash Road, North Webster, as he was being pursued by Syracuse Police, according to a KCSD report. Stuckman's vehicle sustained $2,500 to $5,000 damage.
Elijah left the scene of the accident on the motorcycle, but lost control of the motorcycle on a wet roadway while making a left turn onto Washington Street from Blaine Street.
He complained of pain to his shoulder and upper arm. He was treated and booked into the county jail.
