For the first time, Center Lake Pavilion will be the only location where voters from all Warsaw wards will cast their ballots for city offices in the May primary.
Winona Lake voters will vote in two other separate locations.Center Lake Pavilion is at 117 E. Canal St., Warsaw. This year's primary is May 8 and polling will be from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Secretary of State's office is encouraging Indiana to conduct centralized voting where precincts are consolidated into two to three polling locations in counties, according to County Clerk Sharon Christner.
"We thought this year's primary would be a good time to try out centralized voting since we have a fewer amount of races than previous years," she said.
Tippecanoe also will use centralized voting in its November election, according to Christner.
The county election board consisting of Christner, Tom Lemon and Mike Miner decided to implement the centralized voting for this year's primary.
Polling sites for Warsaw primaries in the past have been located at Center Lake Pavilion, the Shrine Building, Lincoln Elementary and city hall.
Christner reminds voters there will be no contested race for Syracuse offices. The office holders up for re-election are unopposed.
All candidates on the ballot for Warsaw and Winona Lake primaries are Republicans.
The town of Winona Lake polling places for Wayne Township first precinct will be Grace Village Retirement Center, 337 Grace Village Drive, and polling locations for Wayne Township's third, fourth and 10th precincts will be at Gordon Recreation Center, 100 Rupe Drive.
Ann Torpy, deputy clerk, said poll worker volunteers are still needed to assist in the May primary.
A mandatory training session for poll workers will be held May 5 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at the Justice Building. To qualify to be a poll worker, people must be a registered voter and attend the meeting.
Workers will learn how to assist voters in using voting machines and poll inspectors will pick up election day materials and machines.
Absentee voting begins April 23 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and noon to 4:30 p.m., and April 28 and May 5 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Justice Building.
