Carla Quintero-Baker Named August’s Veteran Of The Month

Carla QuinteroBaker was presented as an example of a veteran who continued to serve her community after transitioning back into civilian life.
Tuesday, Carla QuinteroBaker was presented to the Kosciusko County Commissioners as the August Veteran of the Month.
QuinteroBaker was born in March 1988 to Richard Thomas and Barb Coffman. She graduated from Mississinewa High School in Gas City in 2006.
She joined the United States Army shortly after graduating high school. She attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
She served two years in Germany and then played an integral part in bringing the 272nd Military Police “Fighting Deuce” Company back to the United States, Fort Polk, La., and reactivating under the 519th Military Police Battalion, 1st Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, County Veteran Service Officer Darryl McDowell read from her biography.
While serving at Fot Polk, still attached to the 272nd Military Police Company, QuinteroBaker held many notable positions, one being on the Special Reaction Team before deploying to FOB Warhorse in Iraq.
While in Iraq, QuinteroBaker led a Female Engagement Team attached to other units while also running missions with her own company. She achieved many awards and recognitions while serving on active duty, McDowell said.
After QuinteroBaker honorably served five years in active duty and three years in reserve, she moved to Kosciusko County and has continued to serve her community. She works for Lutheran EMS and volunteering on the Pierceton Fire Department.
She is married to Dustin Baker, who is also a veteran, and they have three children and a small farm in Pierceton. They are also a Gold Star Family.
QuinteroBaker said Kosciusko County has some amazing veterans who continue to serve their community and “their dedication is unwavering.”
