Cardinal Services Fifth Annual Duck race will be July 25 at the Village At Winona.
The annual fundraiser benefits Cardinal Services, the local not-for-profit agency that serves people with disabilities and families with small children through programs like Career Links and Head Start.
On July 25 at noon, in the canal at the Village at Winona, up to 10,000 ducks will be dropped from a dump truck into the canal. The plastic ducks will float to an end line, where the first duck to finish will win the race.
There were 8,441 ducks that raced last year and $40,000 was raised, according to Michelle Boxell, Cardinal Services community relations manager.
The goal is to again raise $40,000 this year. About 2,400 ducks have been sold so far.
Children's games will be at 10:15 a.m.
For the person who has the number on the bottom of the duck that comes through the canal first, it will mean a $5,000 prize.
Other prizes to be awarded include a 19-inch LCD television, a Ramada/Wagon Wheel package, a gas grill, pizza for a year, an area restaurant tour package and assorted gift baskets.
To enter the race, call the Duck Race Hotline at 574-371-1382 or stop by Cardinal Services at 504 N. Bay Drive, Warsaw. People also can purchase a duck at Owen's Supermarket, East Center Street.
Ducks are $5 per entry, or purchase a family of five and get a sixth duck free.
