Two vehicles collided Monday around 11:32 a.m. along U.S. 30, near South CR 325E, Warsaw, leaving one of them on its roof. Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Warsaw-Wayne Township Fire Department and Multi-Township EMS arrived at the scene and had it cleared at 12:17 p.m. According to a KCSD police report, Christopher Mort, 32, South CR 900E, Pierceton, stated he was northbound on CR 325E and went to cross U.S. 30. He looked several times and, not seeing any oncoming vehicles, drove through the median. Mort’s vehicle – registered to Gina G. Sabine, South Whitley – then struck the westbound car driven by Vonda L. McEowen, 65, East CR 150N, Columbia City. McEowen told authorities she was on U.S. 30 when her vehicle was suddenly hit in the side by Mort’s, and that she had attempted to avoid the collision. McEowen’s vehicle overturned in the middle of U.S. 30 because of the collision and she was held upside down by her seatbelt. Complaining of pain to her back, she was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment but said she had no physical injuries.
