Candidates Listed For Tuesday's City Elections

The general election for Warsaw and the towns of Claypool and Silver Lake is Tuesday.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Jerry Opperud is running as an independent candidate for Warsaw mayor against current mayor Ernie Wiggins.Opperud previously ran against Wiggins in the 2003 election. Wiggins has served as Warsaw's mayor since 1997.

Madeline "Elaine" Call is seeking a seventh term as the city's clerk-treasurer and is running unopposed.

James Breading filed as an independent for the city District 3 seat. Breading ran for the seat seven years ago. Breading faces councilman George Clemens, who is seeking a third term.

Cindy Dobbins filed as an independent for the District 4 seat. She faces councilman Jerry Patterson, who is seeking a third term on the city council.

Joe Thallemer is seeking a third term on the council as an at-large member. Kyle Babcock is seeking an at-large seat on the council for the first time. Both men are unopposed.

Councilman Jeff Grose is unopposed in seeking a third term for the District 1 seat.

Charles Smith is running for a third term for the Warsaw City Council District 2 seat. He is unopposed.

Bill Rhoades is seeking a third term on the council, and is running for the District 5 seat unopposed.

There also are races for the Claypool and Silver Lake town councils. There are three positions and one clerk-treasurer position open on each of the town councils.

Claypool clerk-treasurer Arlene Leiter, Republican, faces Democrat candidate Tricia Marino.

Candidates running for the Claypool town council include incumbent Republicans Donald Miller II and Larry Neher and Libertarian David Dills.

In the Silver Lake town council general election, incumbent clerk-treasurer Angela Glass, Republican, faces independent candidate Teresa Howell.

Candidates running for the Silver Lake town council include Republicans Linda Baker, Shannon Blocher and incumbent Ronald Jones and Democrats Gale Owens and Shawn Shilling.
