Cancer patients get a helping hand from the Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fund.
But the KCCCF gets a helping hand from generous members of the community.
The 2010 Cancer Care Fund Gala, which is one of the top fundraisers for KCCCF, is set for Sept. 11.
The dinner, which is $125 per person, will be at the Tippecanoe Lake Country Club in Leesburg. Hors d'eouvres and cocktails will be served at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6:30 p.m. Dancing begins at 8:30 p.m. with music from the Blonde Sonias.
Seating for the event is limited to the first 200 responses, and all proceeds from the event go directly to benefit the KCCCF.
There will be a live and a silent auction to raise additional funds for the event.
Items in the live auction include a necklace from Bowers Jewelry, four field-level suite tickets for Colts game against the Cincinnati Bengals Nov. 14, and a new 2009 Sea Doo four-stroke two-passenger wave runner with trailer. Also up for grabs will be a Bennington 22.5-foot pontoon with a 115 horsepower motor from Main Channel Marine; Lasik or eyelid surgery from Grossnickle Eye Center; a Boyne Mountain weekend getaway ski-in/ski-out condo; and a week's vacation on Captiva Island, Fla., in a five bedroom beach home.
The silent auction includes many items that vary from spa treatments to artisan pieces from local artists and jewelry. Also included in the silent auction are two Notre Dame tickets and a memorabilia Coach Kelly autographed football, as well as a limited-edition Chicago Bears montage and many services, gift certificates and furniture from local retailers."We are continually depleting our fund from year to year, not only because of the awareness of its existence but the economy, and sadly, the incidence of diagnosis are seemingly on the rise," said event planner Cheryl Blakemore.
