Don't hang up when a strange voice wants to ask questions over the telephone Thursday evening.
Kosciusko County residents will receive random calls from a group of information gatherers as part of a study from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
They'll want to know how the person being interviewed feels about Warsaw, specifically the downtown area, according to assistant city planner Kristy Mehlberg.
"We'd like to encourage the people we call to take the time to answer the questions," she said. "It will only take three to five minutes. It's not a solicitation."
A dozen volunteers will be making the calls with the data gathered for the upcoming HyettPalma Inc. Downtown Program.
The company is a national firm specializing in the economic renaissance of downtowns and older business districts, hired by the city.
Operated by consultants Doyle Hyett and Dolores Palma, based in Virginia, the firm will study downtown Warsaw and recommend a five-year market-driven course of action for the private and public sectors.
General questions will be asked about downtown Warsaw, like how often it is visited and the reasons for the trip. Interviewers will ask specific questions about the characteristics of the businesses.
Palma will meet with members of a focus committee asked to participate in the study and public officials when she comes to Warsaw in November.
