California Man Stops In Warsaw During Journey Across The U.S.Armand Young began his journey - walking from his home state of California to New York City - on April 16, 2007.

After the death of his mother he stopped the walk in Plymouth and took a hiatus.

He restarted the walk last week and was in Warsaw Tuesday and Wednesday. He was put up at the Ramada Inn in Warsaw by owner Bruce Shaffner and manager Alan Marsh.

"I wanted to do this to show how great America is," said Young before he got back on the road Tuesday.

Young said he left his wife and dogs at home to do this.

He said he sold off many of his possessions and a lot of times carries no cash.

Young said the kidness of strangers has always ensured that he has something to eat and a place to stay.

"I've stayed in the biggest mansions and I've stayed in trees," said Young.

Young's plan is to be in New York City in the next two to three months.

He carries a bamboo walking stick full of thousands of signatures and an 80-pound backpack.

Inside that backpack are flags that he hopes to leave at ground zero.

Young said he's walking for all the lives lost in 9/11.

He hopes that during his walk acts of kidness follow.

He tries to help a family in every town he passes through.

He was scheduled to help a mother of five in Warsaw but Young found out the woman was "pulling my leg".

Young remains undetered though and will continue to New York City.
