Calendar Created For Animal Welfare League Fundraiser

Posted
Local photographer Al Disbro has joined forces with the Animal Welfare League and Director Darla McCammon to  create a keepsake calendar for the community.
“We wanted to memorialize the wonderful sculptures that so many donors helped us bring to our area for the summer of 2014,” McCammon said.
Disbro stated, “And we wanted to make it a fundraiser to help the shelter with funds for their new facility.”
McCammon, who along with Michelle Bormet, former assistant to Mayor Joe Thallemer, was instrumental in working to bring the sculptures here for everyone’s enjoyment this summer, according to a provided press release.
“We feel we have made a product everyone will love. The  calendar is humorous, with everything being quoted from a dog’s viewpoint, yet it is nostalgic and beautiful with a Normal Rockwell Twist. Anyone who visited downtown Warsaw this summer will agree when they see this memorial work. It is also a calendar they can enjoy all next year,” McCammon said.
The calendar has photographs of local people in the community with their pets at each of the Seward Johnson Sculptures.
Each page is full of famous quotes as well as the individual dog quotes on each photograph. Local places that are offering to help by selling the calendars include: Warsaw City Hall, Winona Lake Town Hall, The Animal Welfare League, Warsaw Media Radio Stations, Eagle Creek Market in Winona Lake, Eagle Creek Firearms on Argonne Road, Latte Lounge, Three Crowns, Kerlin’s Western Store, Korner Grill, King’s Keg in North Webster, Zale Drugs and Sheila’s Sweet Treats in North Webster. Several more local shops also will have a supply.
The calendars are $15 and proceeds will go to the Animal Welfare League.  There is a limited supply of this special edition. Phone purchases plus additional questions about quantity purchases or helping to distribute may be directed to the Animal Welfare League at 574-267-3008.
