The Warsaw Board of Zoning Appeals approved a special exception request by Dan and Tammy Spangle for a beauty salon at 1910 E. Center St.
According to city planner Jeff Noffsinger, the Spangles will tear down the existing garage to provide 12 parking spaces at the rear of the home. A dry well will also be constructed to retain storm water because storm sewers are not available to the lot.
In other business, the board approved:
A setback variance for Paul and Ruth Beverly, for a 2-foot side yard setback to permit replacing the existing 10-by-20-foot garage with a 10-by-10-foot utility shed.
A 20-foot front yard setback request by Sharon Miller, 1013 E. Sheridan St., to permit the construction of a wheelchair ramp on the front of the home.
A 6-foot side yard setback request by Lake City Medical Products Inc., 1625 Armstrong Road, for the construction of a utility shed to house air compressors.
