The Warsaw Breakfast Optimist Club announced the winners of its annual essay and oratorical contests, recognizing outstanding youth who demonstrated the power of optimism through writing and public speaking, according to a provided news release.
In the essay contest, themed “How Acts of Service Help Me Understand What My Community Means to Me,” the following students were honored:
• First place: Skylar Heeter — $300
• Second place: Kevin Gough — $150
• Third place: Tristan Etner — $50
In the oratorical contest, themed “The Moment I Realized I Belonged,” winners included:
• First place: Madeline Riley — $400
• Second place: Skylar Heeter — $200
• Third place: Neil Viswandadha — $100
The top three winners in each contest received a medal, cash prize and commemorative plaque recognizing their achievement. These contests provide young people the opportunity to develop confidence, communication skills and a deeper understanding of how optimism shapes their lives and communities.
