Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety Friday approved allowing sandbags used during inclement weather to be stored at the Warsaw Street Department.Warsaw Street Superintendent Lacy Francis said sandbags were previously stored in a building at 787 W. Market St. because there was no room for the sandbags to be stored at the Warsaw Street Department.
Sandbags will be moved to the street department, 794 W. Center St., and can be used if heavy rains occur this spring, Francis said.
He said there was not room this winter to store the sandbags at the street department because there were garbage trucks stored in the street department building. He said now that winter is over, garbage trucks can be stored outside the street department.
The board also approved a memorandum of understanding between Warsaw Community Schools and the city for ice-melting services for WCS.
The board also approved an ordinance for the deletion of a senior patrolman on the Warsaw Police Department. WPD Patrol Officers Eric Coburn, Joel Beam and Allen Danko will have their salaries reduced by $31.54 biweekly.
This will be a 2-percent reduction of the patrol officer's base salary to reflect the deletion of the senior patrol officer position on the first, second and third shifts. The effective payroll date is May 23.
The board also approved a $10,320 contract between Waggoner, Irwin, Scheele & Associates and the city for the company to prepare updated job descriptions for city employees.
