Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety Friday approved contracts for the Blues & Barbecue opening act and headliner for Warsaw Parks Department’s summer concert series in Central Park.
The board approved Duke Tumatoe to be the headliner for the June 26 concert at 8 p.m. in Central Park. Elwood Splinters Blues Band is the opener and will perform at 6 p.m.
The board also approved a contract with No Kin To Bob II Inc. for country artists Wade Hayes, Bryan White and Mark Wills to perform July 24 at 8 p.m. at Central Park as the country music concert headliner.
In other business, the board approved Warsaw Police Department purchasing software that will assist the department with obtaining information off of cell phones and iPads during criminal investigations. The Cellebrite software is $11,084 and the Lantern Software is $745.
“This puts us head and shoulder above other communities to keep up with technology and use this software as an investigative tool,” said Joe Thallemer, Warsaw mayor.
Jordan Foreman, WPD detective, attended Friday’s meeting and spoke about the need for the software.
“The software will allow us to take a mobile device like a cell phone, iPad or iPod that would be generally carried on an individual or who is a victim of a crime, and go into the device and extract data,” Foreman said.
Foreman will attend training on the software.
